Network & Security Specialist

Urgently seeking a network/security specialist with an analytical mindset to join the IT department of a WA public sector organisation.

The Coordinator Network and Security is responsible for undertaking and providing technical oversight of analytics and reporting on overall network and IT system performance. This includes leading network architecture review and design works based on the analysis using corporate and operational data sets; and providing performance insights to support decision making and overseeing complex analytical projects.

Review defect trends and recommend new approaches, tools, and techniques that drive continuous improvement in technical development processes.

• Contribute to architecturally significant requirements and technical risk area identification.

• Conduct verification/validation testing for products and subsystems of moderate to high complexity and contribute to system integration.

• Develop and implement functional, interface and performance specifications for network implementation of moderate to high complexity.

Three (3) or more years of contemporary experience in the field of cybersecurity/network engineering.

2. Have a strong background and technical hands-on experience with but not limited to the following concept or technologies: routing & switching, Cisco/Palo Alto/Meraki product line, Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS), NextGen Firewalls, and networking concepts for securing Operational Technology (OT) environments which consists of Industrial Control System (ICS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

3. Be able to demonstrate:

o Experience assessing and reporting security risks

o Experience developing and implementing networking and server environments, protocols and architecture

o Experience with configuration, integration and troubleshooting of products

o Knowledge of attack methods and techniques

o Understanding of core network and security principles and the ability to adapt to a multi-vendor environment

4. Knowledge of industry information security and cybersecurity standards such as ISO/IEC 27000-series, NIST 800 series, DHS Cyber Security Framework, NEI 08-09, etc.

5. Effective written and verbal communication skills including communicating complex technical information in a clear and articulate manner; and builds and maintains strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

6. Ability to travel to regional and remote WA sites, including a class C drivers' licence or equivalent.

7. Ability to be on a 24/7/52 emergency response on-call roster.
