Our client is seeking a Project Manager to join them for a contract through until 31 October 2022. Our client is embarking on a transformational journey to leverage the benefits available through the introduction of next-generational technology and prepare the network operations to be ready for the changing energy environment. The Project Manager is responsible for the implementation of a new critical operational technology system and supporting business processes and practices which will result in major organisational changes, deliver new ways of working, efficiencies and achieve increased reporting capabilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Managing project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and scope are met;
- Applying project management disciplines in accordance with the Program and Project governance directions, including leveraging Program functions to advance Project responsibilities;
- Management of team members directly responsible for the delivery of outputs, and processes used to ensure outputs are delivered to the requisite quality, on time, on budget and within the risk appetite;
- Communication of project progress, challenges, dependencies, risks, issues, exceptions to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner;
- End to end management of Project from requirement validation to benefits tracking;
- Ensure Project Sponsor is aligned on key decisions and ways of working;
- Regularly review the performance of the Project against individual project agreed scope and broader Program deliverables and vision, resolving issues occurring within tolerances and initiate corrective action when required;
- Strong focus on championing change and embedding new technology and business processes to leverage opportunities available through the uptake of new technology within the business; and
- Strong understanding and awareness of stakeholder groups and management of mitigations to ensure change is embraced positively, including organisational change management accountabilities for the Project.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience managing vendors effectively to achieve planned deliverables within agreed parameters;
- 5+ year's project management experience implementing complex technical projects, preferably into Operational Technology environments;
- Experience leading and directing functional teams to ensure common understanding, new information technology tools are leveraged to ensure business benefits are identified, prepared for and achieved;
- Experience leading and directing technical teams including solution architects, developers and testers;
- Experience gathering and analysing business and technology requirements and translating through successful project delivery;
- Strong risk management discipline with experience in taking a leading role to deliver the project within the Program's risk appetite; and
- Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate complex scenarios and information in a manner suitable to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience across operational technology environments upgrading or implementing energy management systems or control system projects;
- Experience with National Critical Infrastructure projects that interface with control systems functions such as SCADA and ICCP in support of a 24x7 control room;
- Exposure to the Energy sector and the National Electricity Market including transmission, distribution, generation and market operator functions as well as rules, regulations and constraints; and
- Ability to embrace working in a fast pace operational environment with competing priorities, enjoying working through technical problems in a positive manner.
Education and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Project or Business management, or related field;
- Accreditation from PMI or AIPM or equivalent; and
- PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent.
